FunTennis — Terms & Conditions
Last updated: [DATE]
⚠️ PLACEHOLDERS TO COMPLETE BEFORE PUBLISHING: [OPERATING ENTITY] (the legal entity operating FunTennis — pending the company decision), [REGISTERED ADDRESS], [DATE]. Have a solicitor review before real payments go live — this draft is a working baseline, not legal advice.
1. Who we are
FunTennis is operated by [OPERATING ENTITY] (“FunTennis”, “we”, “us”) of [REGISTERED ADDRESS]. Contact: hello@funtennis.co.uk.
FunTennis is a booking platform that connects players with independent tennis coaches who run social tennis sessions (“LiveBall sessions”) at courts across the UK. We are a marketplace: sessions are run by independent coaches, not by FunTennis. When you book a session, your booking contract for the coaching service is with the coach; FunTennis provides the platform, handles payment collection, and charges a booking fee.
2. Accounts
- You must be 18 or over to create an account.
- You sign in with your email address; keep access to your email secure, as anyone with your sign-in code can access your account.
- You’re responsible for what happens under your account. One account per person.
- You can delete your account at any time from the app or by emailing us.
3. Booking a session
- Session prices are set by the coach and shown before you book. The price you see is the price you pay; it includes our booking fee.
- Places are limited and allocated first come, first served.
- When you book more than 24 hours before a session, we save your payment card and charge it the day before the session. When you book within 24 hours of a session, you are charged immediately.
4. Cancellations and refunds — please read carefully
- Before you’ve been charged: cancel anytime in the app, free, no questions. Your place is released to someone else.
- After you’ve been charged (from the day before the session): no refunds. Your card has been charged and your place is committed. This is because coaches commit to running sessions, and courts to hosting them, based on confirmed numbers.
- If the coach cancels the session (for example due to weather): you receive an automatic full refund to your original payment method, whenever the cancellation happens.
- If a payment fails, we’ll notify you and retry. If payment can’t be taken by 3 hours before the session starts, your place is released.
- Because sessions are leisure services booked for a specific date and time, the usual 14-day “cooling-off” cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply (regulation 28(1)(h)). Your other statutory rights are unaffected — nothing in these terms limits your rights where the service is not provided with reasonable care and skill.
5. Coaches
- Any user may register as a coach. Coaches set their own session times, prices, capacities and durations, and are independent operators — not employees, agents or partners of FunTennis.
- Credential badges (DBS check, safeguarding training, first aid) shown on coach profiles are self-declared by the coach. FunTennis does not verify them. Look for the “self-declared” label; ask the coach if you want evidence.
- Coaches receive payment for their sessions after the session has taken place, via our payment provider. Coaches are responsible for their own tax affairs, insurance, and for holding whatever qualifications, permissions and court access their sessions require.
- Coaches must not misrepresent credentials. Doing so may result in removal from the platform.
6. Playing safely
- Tennis is physical exercise. By booking you confirm you’re fit to participate, and you take part at your own risk as with any sport.
- Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
- Courts listed in the app are drawn from public data (OpenStreetMap, Sport England) and may occasionally be inaccurate, closed, or have their own access rules. Check court access before you travel; FunTennis doesn’t control or maintain courts.
7. Session chat, ratings and content
- Each session has a chat for the coach and booked players. The coach may moderate their session’s chat, including removing messages and participants.
- After a session, players who attended may rate the coach (1–5 stars and an optional review). Reviews must be honest and civil. Coaches cannot delete reviews; anyone can report a review, and we may hide content that is abusive, discriminatory, unlawful, or plainly false.
- Don’t post content that is unlawful, abusive, discriminatory, or someone else’s personal information. We may remove content and suspend accounts that break these rules.
8. Payments
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We don’t store your card number.
- Charges appear on your statement as FUNTENNIS.
- Our booking fee is included in the session price shown and is retained by FunTennis from each booking; the remainder goes to the coach.
9. The platform
- We work hard to keep FunTennis available but don’t guarantee uninterrupted service. Sessions, courts and features may change.
- We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, abuse other users, or misuse the platform.
- We may update these terms; material changes will be notified in the app or by email, and continued use after changes means acceptance.
10. General
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales (or your local UK courts where you’re entitled to that).
- If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- Questions or complaints: hello@funtennis.co.uk — we’d genuinely rather fix it than argue about it.
