How it works

From claiming a court to getting paid, in four steps

  1. 1

Sign up in the app & claim a court

Pick your court from the map of 25,000+ public courts and claim a weekly slot: it's yours. Players book ahead and one crowd chat keeps your regulars together week after week: same time, same court, same lovely people.

  2. 2

Book the court itself: that's on you

FunTennis secures your session in the app. It does not book the court. Arranging the actual court with the venue (and any court fees) is the Host's responsibility, well in advance. The app reminds you a week before every session.

  3. 3

    Run your sessions, your way

The defaults are £12 per player, 90 minutes, 7 places. Every one of them is yours to change. Your self-declared credentials (DBS check, safeguarding, first aid, public liability insurance) are shown on your profile, clearly labelled as self-declared, so players know exactly what you bring.

  4. 4

    Get paid after every session

Players pay in the app, with cards charged the day before the session. You're paid out after each session concludes, minus the £1.48 per-player booking fee. Payouts land via Stripe. No cash tins, no IOUs.

Public liability insurance: strongly suggested

We strongly suggest every Host holds public liability insurance to run sessions. You declare it in the app alongside your DBS check, safeguarding training plus first aid. Like those credentials it is self-declared: it appears on your profile clearly labelled as such, FunTennis does not verify it, players can ask you for evidence.

Already coaching?

For LTA coaches: cheaper, quicker, more money

If you already coach at a club, Champs slots straight in alongside what you run now. Same courts, same qualifications, a lot less admin.

💷 Cheaper

No percentage cut. FunTennis keeps a flat £1.48 booking fee per player; every other penny of the price you set is yours. Platforms that take 8 to 10% of each booking cost you more the better you do. A flat fee never does.

⚡ Quicker

Claim your court, set your weekly slot, done. Bookings, payments, refunds, reminders and the crowd chat all run themselves. No spreadsheets, no cash tin, no chasing bank transfers round a WhatsApp group.

📈 Make more money

Your session sits on the map in front of every nearby player. When someone requests a session at a court near you, you get the alert. A full default session (7 players at £12) pays you £73.64. Fill more places, keep more of the price.

Start with the crowd you already have

The easiest launch is your existing regulars: they download the app, join your session and bring the chat with them. From then on every spare place is visible to new players nearby, so the group grows itself. Ratings build your reputation on the platform week by week. We also suggest holding public liability insurance; declare it when you sign up (there is a checkbox for it) and it shows on your profile.

The kit list

What do I need as a Host?

Four bits of kit cover every session. We can post the lot to new Hosts as a welcome pack.

🎾 Green spot balls in a bag

60 to 100 of them. Softer than standard balls, so rallies last and everyone stays in the point.

🥎 Your racquet

Any racquet you can feed comfortably with all session.

🔊 Speaker plus playlist

Music is part of every Champs session. Our Spotify playlists are coming soon, or bring your own bangers.

🚩 A FunTennis banner

So newcomers can spot the session from the car park.

Host FAQ

Do I need to book the court myself?

Yes, this is the important one. FunTennis secures your session in the app: players book places, pay and get reminders. It does not book the court. Arranging the actual court with the venue (and paying any court fees) is the Host’s responsibility. It needs doing well in advance. The app sends you a reminder a week before every session so it never slips.

Do I need coaching qualifications?

There is no formal qualification requirement to run Champs sessions. Plenty of brilliant Hosts are simply strong, organised players. We strongly suggest holding public liability insurance though. Credentials such as a DBS check, safeguarding training, first aid and public liability insurance are self-declared: you tick what you hold, it appears on your profile with a clear “self-declared” label and FunTennis does not verify it. Players can ask you for evidence. Misrepresenting credentials will get you removed from the platform.

How do I get paid?

Players pay in the app: their card is charged the day before the session. After each session concludes, your earnings are paid out to you via Stripe, minus the £1.48 per-player booking fee. No cash on court, no chasing anyone for money.

What does it cost me?

Joining FunTennis as a Host is free. FunTennis keeps a £1.48 booking fee per player per booking; the rest of the session price is yours. At the default £12 with a full 7 places, that’s £73.64 paid out to you per session. Court hire is separate: you pay the venue directly, so factor it into the price you set.

What if I have to cancel a session?

Life happens, weather especially. If you cancel a session, every booked player automatically gets a full refund, whenever the cancellation happens. Cancel as early as you can and use the session chat to keep your crowd in the loop.
